HOLIDAY DUI CRACKDOWN
Full Description:
Carlsbad Police Department is preparing for one of the State's most aggressive impaired driving crackdowns of the year, coinciding with the national "Drunk Driving. Over the Limit. Under Arrest." campaign taking place across the country.
The California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Safety Administrationis providing funds for Carlsbad and other law enforcement agencies to conduct sobriety checkpoints and is asking for the public's help in reporting drunk drivers by calling 911.
"Law enforcement can only do so much," said Carlsbad Police Chief Tom Zoll. "Knowing that other motorists are going to report drunk drivers is a significant deterrent. Our efforts are aimed at preventing a drunk driver from getting behind the wheel in the first place. One phone call really can save a life."
